Conserving biodiversity in the anthropocene is a huge challenge, especially in landscapes shared by people and wildlife. My research focuses on understanding the ways in which humans are interacting and coexisting with wildlife, and how wildlife responds to living alongside people. I use that information to guide culturally sensitive conservation solutions that respond to and consider the needs of both. This can only be achieved through developing effective collaborations with local and national stakeholders, helping to train the next generation of Bissau-Guinean conservation scientists and practitioners, and ensuring our cross-disciplinary research informs evidence-based and predictive conservation strategy
