I am a Master’s by Research student associated with the University of Exeter (UK) and the Helmholtz Institute for One Health (Germany). I am currently coming to the end of my studies and what has been an exhilarating step into the world of wildlife disease and One Health research. My master’s focused on investigating the prevalence of leprosy in the chimpanzee communities of CNP, utilising molecular diagnostic techniques to screen chimpanzee faecal samples for the presence of Mycobacterium leprae.
I have been part of field trips to both Côte d’Ivoire and the Galapagos Islands; two contrasting but equally incredible locations for conducting field work. Whilst there I was involved with rodent, bat and bird trapping, various types of environmental sampling and lab work involving DNA barcoding and MinION sequencing.
About me
“I am now employed by the Helmholtz Institute for One Health, where I continue to work closely with the University of Exeter and CNP, whilst carrying out further research across the interface of animal, human and environmental health.”
